I was glad we have been here twice before because I would not have wanted to jump up early for an excursion as today was a 7:30 am to 12:30 pm stop.
We got our coffee at 8:00 at the Explorer’s Cafe and then had a leisurely breakfast in the main dining room.
Once we finished, since the weather was pleasant and kind of overcast, we decided to walk along the waterfront. We found a swing that we could sit and people-watch. There were a number of people jogging, walking their dogs, or getting ready to take their boats out.
I wandered over to a food truck that advertised pastries to see if they had any Maine blueberry items. Nope. The early crowd had wiped them out of blueberry pastries. They offered me a cinnamon bun. I passed. Oh well, that’s what I get for being too lazy to leave the ship at 7:00 am.
Once we were back on the ship, we skipped lunch and spent the rest of the day reading on the Sea View area. It was soon time to get ready for our first dressy night.
Being dressy night, I was pleasantly surprised that the line was not too long for the main dining room. We were able to get a table for 2 but we were so close to another table it might as well have been a table for 4.
We enjoyed the conversation with two women from Colorado. In another it’s a small world scenario, they were both retired from college technical education, and we knew some of the same people in that field. We may have attended the same conferences back in the day.
After dinner, we went to the first set of the Ocean Bar band. I’m pretty sure the lead female singer was the same one from our 2025 Volendam cruise to Canada.
We went to the World Stage to watch the HAL singers and dancers show “Solid Gold” – songs from the 70’s. They performed well but how do you do a 70’s tribute without a Bee Gees song? The 1977 film Saturday Night Fever is an icon of the 70’s and all those songs were overlooked in their performance. Pitiful.
We finished up the night in the Casino.
